Earlier this week, Facebook announced that they would be partnering with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children to post Amber Alerts to users’ Facebook newsfeeds.
While the social networking behemoth has done past work on getting Amber Alerts out there, this one is a really great move. On one hand, it allows users to see verified alerts in there areas, on the other it allows them to be shared easily with friends in a local area.
As a parent, I am thrilled with this as it eliminates the idiots who post fake amber alerts and missing kid updates that parents easily share only to hear that hey – you got duped stupid.
While I still have some privacy issues with Facebook and children, this is a step in the right direction. Golf clap for you Mr. Zuckerberg.
